. Here I write about many things. In the past I wrote about other things but the past is past. I write code for people to play with, I write about my life on Twitter, and I write here.

On I wrote Musical flumps, on the subject of Rants and Men With Big.

Gettin' a certain amount of commentary on my best songs of the rock-and-roll era list. One of the reasons I was looking forward to posting it was that there'd likely be some criticism and I could use that to find out about some good music that I didn't already know about, or that I'd accidentally left off the list. But so far everyone who's complained about the list has been wrong on a Jurassic scale. So wrong that in order to shout "wrong" loudly enough I'd need to take a run-up. If you're gonna criticise my music taste, you might want to have some small idea of what actually constitutes a good sound, beyond (a) a warthog belching into a metal bin and (b) your own voice. 3/10. Must try harder, kids.

Well. Walk This Way is a good song, but the Run DMC mash-up version isn't exactly Hip-Hop. It's just a cross genre mash-up. There are better hip-hop songs, and better Run DMC songs to boot. :)

Andreas

Actually, all I have to say is Goldfinger - Superman.

This kind of 'listen to some real music', 'best music in the world.. ever' banter is so completely inane.

Music tastes are almost entirely subjective.. Your list, and those of others leave me cold. So what, who cares, it's a personal thing.

Those complaining about Aq's muscial choices are missing the point, it is an excellent game to play.

That said, I might not choose to play it with Aq, based on his musical choices ;)

An "anyone can participate" post followed up by a blatant trolling? Recently installed Adsense by any chance?

Seriously, anyone who doesn't like David McCormack, especially in Custard, is deranged. Obviously. Also, be sure to check out other great Australian bands, such as Spiderbait, Frenzal Rhomb, and other such classics.

Also, one of the best hip hop songs of all time has to be "Burn Down The Parliament" by The Herd.

You people just don't know what good music has come from the Antipodes.

Just leaving a little thank you note for the good techy posts that drew me in to subscribing to the feed, back in the day. I enjoyed your creativity and great sense of design, and probably took some inspiration from some of your hacks, too, if I know myself right.

Johan: thanks, man! That's a really nice thing to say :)

No-one should criticise you for your taste in hip-hop- that's my job, after all. . .

A nice trip down memory lane - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T1mMQtk3IUE

Clearly the best song of the list.

The problem is that anyone who actually gives a flying...whatever about music would never ever be able to make such a tiny list. It takes two serious music fans about eight hours to nail down a top ten *albums* list, and if you asked them to do it again the next day they'd probably come up with a different ten.

My RB library has somewhere north of 11,000 songs in it (all albums I actually bought, on CD...), it'd be absurd to try and pick any kind of 'best songs' out. There's just too many parameters. There's a reason all the big music sites go in for top 50s and top 100s and even top 500s.

Fab

Haha! I laugh at your feeble attempt to mock my superior taste of music! ;)

Anyway, I recently discovered "Waiting for the Great Leap Forwards" by Billy Bragg through a mate which you probably already know, but that version of him with just the Tele (there's a good one on EvilFlashTube) is just *devine*.

Harry

I don't understand... You trounce other people's taste in music, then include the white stripes in your list of good music :S
