. Here I write about many things. In the past I wrote about other things but the past is past. I write code for people to play with, I write about my life on Twitter, and I write here.

On I wrote Conservative posters, on the subject of Web.

If you’re in the UK you’ll doubtless have seen the Coservative Party’s “are you thinking what we’re thinking” poster campaign. Did you, when you looked at those posters, think: I wish I could change some of the text on those, to show the Tories what I think of them and their ideas?

Well, now you can, a little bit. Get your own Conservative poster.

Rob

Nice. You’re more than welcome to use my handwriting font for this worthy project:

Senji

I offer no apologies, it had to be done:

Senji: you are beyond sad. :)
Rob: I’ll do that when I get a sufficiently round tuit!

Any chance you can get it to adjust the font size so it’ll fit more on?

I added a few words to the end of the slogan and it ran off the edge.

sil

Rob: I suppose I could do, but (a) then it wouldn’t look like the real Tory posters any more, and (b) that would be Work, which doesn’t happen for quick two-hour hacks ;-)

My favourite is the way the real ‘How hard is it to keep a hospital clean’ had ‘you should know you privatised my job, wanker!‘. Added near a Liverpool hospital.

Much better than pointing out the conservatives created the legislation that led to these problems and obviously more personal ;-)

Thanks for the generator – googled at #1 for “tory poster“!

I’ve collected as many genuine subvertised versions as I could find at:

You might find them interesting!

Have you seen this? http://www.cyberbritain.co.uk/electionblog/areyouthinking.php?tory1=these+posters+are&tory2=easy+targets+for&tory3=ridicule+by+lefty&tory4=scumbags&B1=Make+Poster

fizz.

sil

Fizz: I had not. Interesting, although I spent a bit of time trying to make mine more usable than the “here’s a web form, type into that” sort of approach.

sil

Hang on, that’s just HTML!

Mine does that without submitting anything to the server; just type into the form.

Bah! Learn some CSS, CyberBritain!

fizz

I found another site doing it too, but forgot the URL.

You’ve however been infested by popbitch people today, hope the bandwidth bill survies ok :)

chrsitan

ummmm bacon sandwiches, maybe that will sort out the hangover

Paul

lol, cool.

I’d been thinking about doing these for a while, but couldn’t find the required font. Anyway, after finding Rob’s font, I present you a few of my efforts:

I have but two questions.

One: Did you expect to become the newest “All Your Base” linkfest, and
Two: Can you defend the “.php” extensions?

sil

One: no. Utterly not. Although it did give me a good testbase on which to get the thing that deletes old posters fixed, which took about thirty iterations. If it hadn’t been linked from everywhere then I never would have identified the bugs, and the old posters would have just gradually accumulated over time until, like some horrific space-age fungus, they choked off angel.kryogenix.org and all that therein is.

Two: laziness. It was a quick hack in order to prove to myself that I can still write PHP if I have to, and to test out Smarty. I can still write PHP, Smarty is cool, and I can’t be arsed to fix the extensions; this is also why …/conposter/ doesn’t work and you need the index.php. Ironically, it occurred to me afterwards that I’ve got MultiViews turned on, so I could have just left the extensions off in links and it would have all still worked…
