Renting films

See, we like watching films and TV. So we’ve signed up with LoveFilm. It’s one of these “rent as many films as you like” schemes, where they send them to you by post. Cool idea. I looked at a few places that do it; LoveFilm and Amazon and Blockbuster and a few others, and LoveFilm seemed like the best deal. We can have three films at a time, and there are 116 films in our queue after an industrious couple of hours last night. That should keep us going for a while :-)

  2. We’re lovefilm members and, to be honest, since they became lovefilm (they used to be DVDs on Tap) they’ve gone downhill. The last 3 disks we’ve had we’ve had to make comment upon them being scratched – so- much- so that only our DVD-Rewriter would read them (tried in several players and ROMdrives).

If you’re lucker than us in the quality of the disks you get then well done. Oh, don’t expect to get new films very quick, will you ;)

  3. D: sorry to hear about the quality. I shall cancel if the films are all scratched!
What does “don’t expect to get new films very quick” mean? Does it mean “when you send a film back, the next one in your queue will take a long time to arrive“, or does it mean “newly released DVDs get booked up a lot so it’s difficult to get them, even if they’re in your list“? If the latter, I don’t mind, because we don’t watch a lot of newly released stuff; of the 100+ films on our list, about ten have come out in the last five years. If the former…that’s bad news, so I shall watch that and cancel if it turns out to be rubbish.

  4. Yes, since packing my TV away, Ive been enjoying ScreenSelect. I have to say, Im very happy with their service.
