I'm just about to start driving lessons (yes, a bit late I know) and have as a result started paying more and more attention to the appearance of cars, the performance of cars and the interior of cars.

Now I love my iPod to bits (well, not literally) but I find it astounding that no third party car accessory maker has yet created an iPod dock for a car.

Imagine: a car stereo unit housing with the traditional display, buttons and all, but instead of a tape or CD slot there is a recessed area to dock your ipod. Instant access to however many thousand songs you have onboard, with easy control via the dashboard or steering-column controls.

So who's going to go and make one in time for my first car purchase?

I have an iTrip FM Transmitter for my car. It blatently owns all. 40 gig of mp3 to choose from! The only other thing I need is an in car charger, as the ipod battery isn't the best. As it's an FM station I can control the volume via my steering wheel controls. Changing albums may be an issue, but I just do it at traffic lights :)
