The Silver Suggestions were originally penned by Aslade. Most people posting to Usenet have a general acquaintance with netiquette, and the Silver Suggestions are a codification of this general rule. They are reproduced below.

1. Read the articles on the newsgroup for a few weeks or so before you post anything.
2. Try to quote only the relevant bits of a previously posted message
3. Always try to ensure that the subject line is relevant
4. ALWAYS read the FAQ
Aphrael's Three(err Ten) Commandments (summary):
1 Thou shalt not flame without malicious provocation.
